La Cañada Flintridge

La Cañada Flintridge is usually called La Cañada by the locals, though the two distinct cities of La Cañada and Flintridge merged in 1976. Here you’ll find a small-town feel with tons of nature nearby in the mountains, Descanso Gardens, NASA’s JPL, and highly rated schools within LCF’s own school district.

Fun fact: it was also, briefly, home to Shohei Ohtani, when he purchased a home from Adam Carolla. Sadly, he moved due to security concerns after his home address was leaked. Foothill Boulevard is the main street going through, and you can take Angeles Crest Highway to residential neighborhoods, to the La Cañada Country Club, and on through the Angeles National Forest.

People in La Cañada take nature seriously. The city’s 22-mile trails system is protected by a local Trails Council and is loved by both hikers and bikers alike. Ocean View Boulevard is known for just that: drive up on a clear day, and you’ll see the ocean glimmering at a distance. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Shops and restaurants dot both sides of Foothill Boulevard, and the main shopping center is the La Cañada Flintridge Town Center, which has a Target, Home Goods, ice cream shops, restaurants, fitness centers, and a kids’ robotics lab.

What to compare on a tour

1

Sagebrush, a community of over 800 homes on the western side of La Cañada Flintridge, was previously zoned for Glendale Unified School District until a group of residents fought to transfer the territory to LCUSD. Residents in this area now can choose to attend LCUSD or GUSD schools.

2

The majority of the homes in LCF are single family homes and estates, but there are some townhomes around the country club and closer to Foothill.

3

While LCUSD is touted as one of the best school districts in the country, plenty of residents attend the local private schools, including Flintridge Prep, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, St. Francis, St. Bede, and Crestview.
