Glendale has changed so much in recent years. I remember taking the bus from La Crescenta down to Glendale as a teenager, where my friends and I would frequent the Glendale Galleria and the arcade on Brand. My family and I were regulars at Tony Roma’s, Olive Garden and Todai for family birthdays and celebrations. The Glendale Galleria is still there though most of the older shops are no longer, and the opening of the Americana in 2008 really changed the game.
When it comes to housing, Glendale has something for everyone at all price points. It is a collection of very different pockets, and they all have their own rhythm and are wonderful in their own way. Same with the parks in Glendale: I haven’t been to a park that my kids and I didn’t like, and I’ve been to many! GUSD schools are also very sought after, with many families from outside of the district permitting into the dual language immersion elementary schools.
What to compare on a tour
Whiting Woods is a secluded enclave of mid-century homes among oaks and sycamores with a trailhead at your doorstep.
Verdugo Woodlands is known for its greenery, quiet residential streets and close proximity to Glendale Community College.
Adams Hill is a lively hillside community centered around Adams Square, and walkable to Palmer Park.
Glenoaks Canyon and Scholl Canyon feel miles from the city, with homes tucked away on winding roads.
El Miradero is known for its historic architecture, including Spanish and Tudor Revival homes, Kenneth Village, Brand Park and Brand Library and Art Center. A true Glendale cultural hub!
Riverside Rancho is for the equestrians, known for its horse properties and trails.
Downtown and Citrus Grove are active communities with more apartments, condos, restaurants and shops.
